Worship planning + Fall Retreat + more!

Hey all.  I know it's been pretty pretty quiet on the activities front this week.  It seems like everyone is traveling and schedules just aren't lining up.  If you would like to help put something together, just drop me a line.  Here is what I know:

WORSHIP PLANNING: Drop by Ben Buss's place on Tuesday, August 4th for a worship planning session.  We'll be focused on the big picture side of sketching out several worship gatherings -- focusing on topics and broad concepts of how to present them.  Even if you can't come, feel free to suggest topics you would find interesting or meaningful.  What are you struggling with?  What inspires you?  Everyone's voice is welcome!  

LUTHERAN VOLUNTEER CORPS COMMISSIONING: As many of you know Ben Masters will be spending next year in Minneapolis with LVC.  As LVC is based out of DC, we have the good fortune to be close enough to go to the commissioning ceremony at the and of his orientation before he boards the train for points west.  If you are interested in going, let us know. 

FALL RETREAT: You can register online HERE -- the retreat will be October 2-4, at the beautiful Meadowkirk Retreat Center.  Cost is $20/student including everything (meals, lodging, etc.).  Space is limited, so consider registering soon!

Mini-Golf + more!

Mini-Golf:  Wednesday, 7/22, meet at the campus ministry office (SUB I room 207) at 5:45pm.  Email lutheran@gmu.edu or call 703/829.0220 with any questions.  We'll carpool to Oak Mar Rec Center for some putt-putt.  Cost is $6/person for 18 holes, but we can help, so don't let the cost keep you from coming.

Camping?  Email lutheran@gmu.edu if you are interested in a weekend camping trip sometime this summer.  Those interested will brainstorm a date & details.

Last Orientation + Movie Night + more!

Hope everyone is doing well.  Do you a friend or two around this summer who would be interested in hanging out with us -- invite them along to something or ask them if they'd like to be added to this email list.

LAST Freshman Orientation Session:  TONIGHT, July 13th, in SUB I.  At 5:30pm we'll find out which table is ours and set-up.  Then we'll talk to incoming freshmen from 6pm-8pm & tear down.  Come for part or all of the time. Email lutheran@gmu.edu with any questions.

COOKOUT, freshmen orientations, fireworks, etc.

Hey everyone!  Hope your summer is rockin'!  A few upcoming opportunities:

Cookout:  We figure the long holiday weekend calls for a cookout.  Stop by Ben Buss's place anytime after 4pm on Sunday July 5th for food & fun!  Don't know where that is?  Email lutheran@gmu.edu for the address.  Potluck contributions appreciated, but certainly not required.

Freshman Orientations:  Monday 7/6 and Thursday 7/9 (both this week) in SUB I.  The schedule for each orientation: 4pm - we'll meet in Patriot's Lounge (the area outside the Campus Ministry office) to hang out, snack, maybe play some cards, etc.  At 5:30pm we'll find out which table is ours and set-up.  Then we'll talk to incoming freshmen from 6pm-8pm & tear down.  Come for part or all of the time. Email lutheran@gmu.edu with any questions -- or to tell us what size LCM t-shirt you would wear if you don't have one already.  The last orientation session will be next week on July 13th (same schedule unless we post otherwise).

Mission Trip Planning Meeting for Summer 2010:  Some Metro DC college-age young adults have initiated a conversation regarding a summer 2010 mission trip for college/grad students (or anyone 18-25). We will gather Sunday, July 12, 2PM at First Trinity Lutheran Church  (free parking across the street) to find out who is interested and how participants envision such a trip.  If you are interested but can't attend, leave a note on the events page of the face book page.
