Welcome week is around the corner!  We hope to see you there at kiosks, our drum circle, 747 creative Christian worship, or our food drive for Our Daily Bread.  Regardless, may God's grace and peace hover over you.

DRUM CIRCLE: No experience necessary – we'll provide a bunch of hand drums and shakers and make music together.  ALL are welcome!  Tuesday 9/1/2009 on SUB I QUAD from 2PM-5PM, come and go as you please, so feel free to stop by even if you only have a few minutes between classes.

THEOLOGY PUB: Resumes Tuesday 9/15/2009 at 5:15pm at Brion's Grille with Pastor Chris Duckworth.  It should be a lively conversation.  Details HERE.

FALL RETREAT: You can register online HERE -- the retreat will be October 2-4, at the beautiful Meadowkirk Retreat Center.  Cost is $20/student including everything (meals, lodging, etc.).  Space is limited, so consider registering soon!

LVC Commissioning + Drum Circle + Food Drive + Retreat + MUCH more!

I hope you've had a fabulous summer & get to enjoy the last week before classes start.  Our mailing list is now back in full swing, so expect 1-2 emails/week letting you know what's going on.  If you have any questions, just let us know.  If you'd rather not be on our email list, just respond and let us know.  So here's the skinny:

LUTHERAN VOLUNTEER CORPS COMMISSIONING: Ben Masters will be spending next year in Minneapolis with LVC, whcih is based out of DC, so we have the good fortune to be close enough to go to the commissioning ceremony for the 124 volunteers before Ben boards his train for points west.  If you are interested in going, let us know, and meet us at the Info Booth by the Mason Pond Parking Deck (near the George Mason Statue) at 9AM on Saturday, 8/22/2009.  We'll carpool to Metro, then attend the commissioning at Luther Place in DC.  Afterwards, we can stop for lunch if everyone is interested.  :-)

Move-in helpers & looking ahead toward fall

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all having a fabulous summer!  We're looking for volunteers to help with Freshmen move-in, and also wanted to share some other opportunities as well!

HELP WITH FRESHMEN MOVE-IN: Wear your LCM T-shirt (let me know if you need one) and help Freshmen move-in.  If you live on-campus and work 2 shifts, you get to move in 2 nights early for FREE.  Others are also encouraged to help with one or more shifts.  Select shift(s) from:
     (A) 8:30 AM -- 12 PM on Thursday 8/27/2009
     (B) 12 PM -- 3:30 PM on Thursday 8/27/2009
     (C) 8:30 AM -- 12 PM on Friday 8/28/2009
     (D) 12 PM -- 3:30 PM on Friday 8/28/2009
     (E) 9 AM -- 12:30 PM on Saturday 8/29/2009
     (F) 12:30 PM -- 4 PM on Saturday 8/29/2009
If interested, please email lutheran@gmu.edu ASAP with your preferential shift(s).  Residential students must include your G# (and also submit this early move-in request form by Friday 8/7/2009).
