Looking ahead to the fall & an opportunity to learn about our church's ministry

As we look toward the beginning of a new semester, a new school year, let us ask, Who are we?  Whose are we?  What should we do?
As Micah says, Do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.  (6:8)

******Watch for announcements of our upcoming events during the first week of classes---747 Worship with UCM Wednesday--Pub Theology   Tuesday--Game night on Friday---and lots more, join us for any or all.******

Here is an opportunity on August 2 for any of you who may be wondering about a call to the ministries of our church.
  Blessings, Vicar Jeanne Larsen
Dear GMU Students,

Have you ever thought about a career in the church?  Maybe someone has mentioned to you that you would make a great pastor or youth worker.  Maybe you just keep hearing that small voice in the back of your head urging you to think about ministry.  Maybe you are just curious about what going to seminary would be like.

Project Connect is an initiative of Gettysburg, Philadelphia and Southern Seminaries, which aims to help 18-30 year olds consider where God is calling them vocationally, specifically whether that may be into some kind of ministry in the Church.

To connect with young adults in our area, Project Connect will be hosting a gathering on Tuesday, August 2 at 7pm in the synod office. The office is located at 1025 Connecticut Ave NW (at the Farragut North metro station). We'll take some time to meet one another and then discuss how we sense God's call.  If you would like to attend the gathering, contact Pastor Meredith Keseley at pastorkeseley@me.com.  If you need a ride, just let Pastor Keseley know.  If you cannot make this meeting but would be interested in future gatherings like this, let Pastor Keseley know that, too.  Looking forward to hearing from you!

                Justice and Mercy
Consider these words from the hymn "Bless All the Nations, Lord"
Help us to love the world, just as you do
Fill our hearts, Lord, with Christ's love
That we all may give glory to you.
Bless the hungry, and the weary,
Show us all what we can do.
Help us to love the world, just as you do.
Bring peace to all the world, we trust in you.

Let us pray for the people of Norway in the wake of the massacre of over 90 children and adults..
May we continue to seek God's help to overcome the effects of evil and hatred.   Vicar Jeanne
