We are in the early stages of co-planning a student-led weekly worship service for next year. I find myself curious about what it will look like. We are looking at ways that it might be fully interactive and engaging to all of our senses. We are starting basically from scratch, but will be using building blocks that are both extremely ancient and completely new. God has blessed us each with different gifts, and we hope to creatively tap the endless possibilities to experience how the spirit is moving through our community. I'm bubbling over with excitement at what ideas you might bring to the table! A prayer...

God has blessed us each with different gifts, and we hope to creatively tap the endless possibilities to experience how the spirit is moving through our community. I'm bubbling over with excitement at what ideas you might bring to the table! A prayer...
I begin with a prayer of gratitude for all that is holy in my life.
God needs no words, no English or Hebrew, no semantics and no services.
But I need them.
Through prayer, I can sense my inner Strength, my inner purpose,
my inner joy, my capacity to love.
As I reach upward in prayer,
I sense these qualities in my Creator.
To love God is to love each other,
to work to make our lives better.
To love God is to love the world God created and to work to perfect it.
To love God is to love dreams of peace and joy that illume all of us,
and to bring that vision to life.
(Kabbalat Panim for Shabbat p. 8(126))

KARAOKE NIGHT AT THE LAMB CENTER: Serving others is more than just essential needs (food, clothing, shelter). It's also important to share in comraderie with those on the fringes of society. Meet me at SUB1 room 207 at 6pm on Thursday, May 1st for a ride to join with others for a night of listening, singing, laughing, and friendship with the poor and homeless at the Lamb Center. NOVALCM ANNUAL MEETING: Northern Virginia Lutheran Campus Minsitries, Inc. (http://novalcm.org) is the non-profit formed by members of several local congregations to support our ministry here on campus. The annual meeting is when we give the public a summary of this ministry for the past year, talk about plans for next year, elect officers for the Board, renew/replace Board members whose terms have expired, and more. This year, the meeting will be at 7pm on Monday, May 5th at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 5114 Twinbrook Road, Fairfax, VA 22032 (http://www.lordoflifelutheran.com/lordoflife/map.html -- but head EAST on Braddock from campus).
SAMARITAN WOMEN: We'll join other young adults from the region on Saturday, May 10th in continuing to fix up an old estate to be used for a transitional, residential program for young women (http://www.thesamaritanwomen.org/). Last time we worked in the yard. Who knows what we'll be doing this time. I highly recommend this event! (It should be a great break from Exams! It promises to be a great time of mass collaboration as we celebrate the somewhat chaotic coming of the Holy Spirit in Acts chapter 2.
