"FAMILY TIME" + WORSHIP + THEOLOGY PUB + Volunteer + MORE!

The Church, as the body of Christ, should be a community where you don't need to leave any part of yourself at the door.  When we gather, we want you to know that you are loved and accepted for who you are, because we believe that God is love, and that we are all loved more than we could possibly fathom.  Unconditional love is a pretty radical idea, but I believe that's who God is.  You are invited to join us in this journey...as you are.  We'll work through the challenges that result together. :-)

BIBLE STUDY: "Family Time" exploring what it means to be a community in Christ: relationships, struggles, etc. from the one-on-one level to the global level.  Mondays 7pm-8pm at Emma's dorm in Eastern Shore (the new dorms at the northeast corner of Patriot Circle) starting 11/2 (that's TODAY!).  Call Emma at 443-621-7387 with questions.  ***If you are interested in this, but need it to be shifted an hour earlier/later, just let us know & we just might move it for next week!***

50 ways to pray and then some! There are many paths to prayer.  Join UCMNV Chaplain Elizabeth Baird for a time of experiential prayer. Begin by assessing our prayer type in order to explore what types of prayer may touch us most. Come with an open mind and an open heart. All who seek God are welcome. Tuesday 11/3, 4-5pm, Campus Ministry office SUB 1 room 207.

747 CREATIVE CHRISTIAN WORSHIP:  EVERYONE is welcome, and everyone's voice matters -- so bring a friend.  Co-sponsored with United College Ministries.  Every Wedndesday at 7:47pm.  We're in ***SUB1 room B*** again this week.  Complete room schedule at http://GMU747.org -- Facebook group: GMU747.

CELEBRATION OF BRIAN PICONE:  Many of you knew Brian, who died on campus last week.  Mason will hold a Celebration of Brian Picone this Thursday, November 5th, 2009 beginning at 7pm at the Mason statue with a candle lit walk, followed by a multi-faceted celebratory gathering at 7:30pm in the SUB I Patriots Lounge.  ALL are welcome; we hope that many who knew and were touched by Brian will participate – it is our hope the event will include as many voices as possible.  Questions can be directed to Ric Chollar <rchollar@gmu.edu> or Lisa Snyder <lsnyder2@gmu.edu>.

SUNDAY WORSHIP:  If you'd like a ride, just email or call/text 703-829-0220 (by 8pm Saturday).  Leave a phone number so I can reach you. (--Ben)

THEOLOGY PUB:  We'll gather at the RATHSKELLER in the lower level of SUB1 to eat, drink, and talk about God, faith, religion, and how they intersect life in our world.  This is a safe, open conversation.  ALL are welcome, so bring a friend, order yourself dinner, and join in the conversation!  5:15pm on these Tuesdays: 11/10/2009 and 12/1/2009.

HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS ACTION WEEK:  November 15-21 is the GMU Campus Ministry Association's annual Action Week to bring the campus community together to learn about hunger and homelessness and what can be done to alleviate these issues.  Let me know if you'd like to help.  http://ActionWeek.org -- Invite your friends to join the Facebook group.

Urgent Volunteer Opportunity at Hope Lutheran:  Watch kids (mostly under 3 years old) while their mothers attend ESL classes in the next room.  They really need someone on Tuesday evenings 7-9pm.  Let us know if you are interested and we'll put you in touch with the person at Hope who is coordinating this.  Start tomorrow morning if you want!  (One time or recurring.)

Lord God, lord of the dance of life, stir up in us the rhythm of the cosmos, that we might live our lives in tune with you as we dance together.  Be with us when we struggle, and help us to appreciate the gift of each new day.  In the name of Jesus we pray, AMEN.

Grace and peace,
Ben
